LYHA CELEBRATES ITS DIAMOND JUBILEE Image

Sixty years after it was first launched, 2010 sees Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association (LYHA) celebrating its milestone diamond jubilee year.

Throughout this landmark year, LYHA will be reflecting on some of the ground-breaking changes it has brought to the housing industry, the impact of the residents and looking ahead to the next sixty years as it sets out further housing goals.

On the Website and in the current and next editions of Open Door, conferences, competitions and open days will be launched or promoted as part of our celebrations.

David Whitehead, Chief Executive of LYHA, says “As the start of this momentous year, I would like to thank everyone who has helped LYHA over the last 6 decades. This includes organisations that we have partnered with, board members, staff and most importantly our loyal tenants, many of whom have contributed time and effort in helping us to become an association geared solely to provide the very best service possible.”

The organisation has dipped into the records and still has two LYHA tenants who are residing in the homes they moved to in the 1950s, six who moved in the 1960s and forty in the 1970s.

David Whitehead states that: “Since launching in 1950, LYHA has taken the lead on many housing initiatives which we are distinctly proud of. However, the one overriding success that we are most pleased to celebrate is our track record in providing good quality, affordable housing for those in need.”
