Get Involved
LYHA is constantly striving to be a customer focused organisation, with services that are developed and improved in line with customer feedback.
We believe that tenants have a major role in decision making. Therefore, we need your views across a whole range of areas that you have told us are important to you, including estate improvements in your local area, repairs in your home, who we let our properties to, and how we communicate with you.
At LYHA tenants can choose the level of involvement. You can attend estate meetings, join focus groups, carry out estate inspections in your local area or simply fill in our tenant surveys.
We want to help those who are helping us to improve our services. In return for your involvement we will cover travel costs, help with child care costs and keep you up to date with training opportunities. This is because LYHA really does appreciate your ideas and the free time you give to us.

The SRG discusses proposed new LYHA policies and service changes. The group also acts as a reader panel ensuring that all letters and newsletters sent out are customer friendly. From July the group will meet for 90 minutes on the third Thursday of each month. Expenses are paid and lunch is provided.
Who can attend?
If you are an LYHA tenant you are more than welcome to come along and give your views.

From time to time LYHA tenants and residents observe, experience and evaluate our customer service and other important tenant services. We call these tenant inspectors mystery shoppers because our staff do not know who our inspectors are. Mystery shopping can be fun and a good way of finding out if LYHA is doing what we say. Register your interest in the blue box to the right of this page and we’ll be in touch.
Tenants inspect their own estate and rate the gardening, caretaking and other estate services in their local community.
Who can be a tenant inspector?
If you can give approximately 45 minutes of your time and want to see the estate you live on improve then we would welcome you as a tenant inspector.

Want change in your local area? Why not consider forming a residents' association? LYHA currently works with two such groups. LYHA will assist local residents to form a residents' association and provide a start up grant. Leeds Tenants' Federation provides a useful website providing draft constitutions and more information.

LYHA occasionally holds 90-minute focus groups on different service areas. Topics discussed in 2009 include the new tenant website, how we rent our properties and how we communicate with our customers. Focus group attendees will receive feed back on how they have helped to shape the future service delivery of the organisation and their expenses are paid.

Representatives from all the resident involvement groups such as the property forum and SRG, as well as each resident association and our tenant board member, meet quarterly to review and scrutinise the performance of LYHA.
Who can attend?
Residents and tenants are elected on to the forum in November. To join the forum it is expected that tenants join one of the resident involvement groups or are on a committee of a recognised residents' association.
Currently LYHA has one tenant board member. We let our tenants know if a vacancy arises for a tenant board member position and all interested tenants, and in fact any interested candidate for board membership, have to go through a selection process. Currently we are recruiting a second tenant board member and we are short-listing from the tenants' who attend the tenants' Forum.
If you would like to be considered for a future position on the LYHA board then we recommend that you take the opportunity to attend one of the resident involvement groups mentioned on this page of the website. You can register your interested in the blue box to the right of this page.
LYHA will hold local residents' meetings to discuss estate issues. If there is demand, we will find a venue and send out invites to you and your neighbours. Register your interest by using the form to the right of the page.
