Yes. You do not automatically go on to our waiting list if you apply to the council. We have our own waiting list that you need to have completed an application form to be on.

Tenants must obtain written permission before they can keep a pet. Pets are not normally allowed in flats above ground floor level, or in sheltered housing schemes.

It is difficult to give a time scale as we have varying demands for our properties. You will have to wait longer if you want to live in an area where which has fewer properties available.

Everyone on our waiting list is eligible to place a bid for one of our properties as advertised in LYHA's Choose Your Home Scheme. Once you have received an application number, you can start to place bids. Your place on the list depends on who else places bids on the same property as you, as we will offer the property to the person who has placed a bid that has been on our waiting list for the longest. We cannot give timescales as to how long you will be on our list for.

LYHA's Choose Your Home Scheme

The main principle of LYHA's Choose Your Home Scheme is that properties are advertised to enable customers to see what properties are available for letting, giving customers more say in where they would like to live and more information about the available homes and the amenities.

Customers are then asked to express an interest (called bidding) in the properties they would like to be considered for. Please click on the property you would like to bid for from the list of current properties available.
