Our Board Members

Our Board is a group of eleven individuals to whom we are accountable. Between them they have a broad range of skills and experience, which enables them to comprehensively consider the decisions we take.

You can read about our current Board members below and view their Declarations of Interest. Our governance policies for the recruitment, retention and development of these members ensure we comply with Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) regulation. 

In addition to our main board, we have three sub-committees: Our Audit and Risk Committee, Our Remuneration and Nominations Committee and our Customer Experience Committee, which all play a key part in our governance here at LYHA.

Mike Gaskell (Chair)

Mike is a retired partner at Trowers & Hamlins international law firm, heading up the Manchester office. He has over 30 years' experience of providing legal advice for organisations in the social and affordable housing sector.

Jon Prashar

Jon has had a successful 35 year career, training in construction, then working in local authorities, a voluntary sector civil service consultancy and latterly housing.  

Adele Rae

A customer from our St. Ann’s estate in Leeds, Adele brings with her the unique perspective of being a Board member who is also a customer.

Annie McMaster

Annie is an experienced human resources professional with over 30 years' experience of working in the public and private sector.

Simon Edwards

Simon is a Chartered Financial Analyst with over 21 years' experience of managing funds, as well as commercial property and private rented schemes.

Carla Makepeace

Carla has been acting as a liaison between customers and LYHA for the last 3 years. Qualified in Health and Safety, she is passionate about providing safe, warm and secure homes for customers.

Ulfat Hussain

Ulfat is the Assistant Chief Executive and Director of Operations at Manningham Housing Association, a specialist BAME social housing provider in Bradford.

Anthony Brown

Anthony is a property specialist with significant client-side experience working with housing associations at consultant and director levels.

Matt Edgar

Matt is a digital service design specialist. He has worked with a wide range of organisations in sectors including government, media, telecoms, retail and energy. 

Jeremy Earnshaw

Jeremy Earnshaw has over 30 years senior treasury, finance and governance expertise, in both public and private sector organisations, including as Chief Financial Officer of the Your Housing Group, which has over 28,000 homes across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Haroon Rashid

Haroon is Head of Central Finance at Freemans Grattan Holdings and was previously an Audit Manager at KPMG. He has also been board member and Chair of the Audit Committee at Bradford based Manningham Housing Association for the last six years, so brings considerable housing sector experience.

Juanita Crawford

Juanita brings a unique perspective of being a board member who is also a customer. As a disabled person, she is an advocate for the importance of equality and diversity, as well as affordable, good-quality housing. She is particularly concerned about the well-being of the more vulnerable members of society and welcomes the opportunity to contribute to LYHA's work with communities.
