We recently held two well-attended consultation events with customers on the estate. These were a great chance for us to talk to customers direct, update them on progress so far and find out about their priorities for the estate. Working closely our Elmetes Customer Steering Group, we will develop these plans and incorporate them into the estate improvement programme.
Already we have made significant progress:
Cavity wall insulation
By the middle of November, we will have completed the cavity wall insulation to the exterior walls of all the homes on the estate.
Heating and hot water system
Following a comprehensive review, we have decided to replace the existing Logicor heating and hot water systems with a more traditional gas-based system which will provide reliable and efficient heating and hot water in the long-term. We have now submitted a formal application to Northern Gas Networks and will keep our Elmetes customers updated.
We are installing an award-winning fibre broadband service throughout the estate to improve the speed and reliability of customers’ internet connection.
We have carried out chemical etching to make the stairwells more slip resistant.
We are also making improvements to the external areas around the estate. We will shortly be redesigning the bin stores, to make them lighter and more secure, and are making improvements to the landscaping, including a recent community bulb planting event, where we planted over 400 spring bulbs.
