We're looking for new Board and Customer Experience Committee members

The Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association family is growing. We have two exciting opportunities to join us and help us deliver our new vision “To ensure all of our customers live in a home they love and in a community in which they can thrive”.

We are looking for:

An existing customer to join our Customer Experience Committee. This is a sub-committee of our Board and is responsible for monitoring and holding LYHA to account on customer related matters to ensure we make decisions in customers' best interests. The committee, which meets four times a year, acts as a consultative body, providing feedback and insight to ensure that our policies and services are co-created with customers. No specific experience is necessary however we are looking for someone who is:

  • Committed to bringing about positive change to our services for all customers
  • Can remain impartial and objective at all times
  • Is able to share and explain their views and ideas in group discussions
  • Is willing to question and challenge
  • Has the time and commitment to carry out the role
You do not need to be the named customer on the tenancy agreement. You just need to live in one of our homes.

In return, LYHA provides mentoring and training through the Housing Diversity Network, expenses for meetings, character references for future employers and the chance to influence the future of LYHA. Committee meetings are friendly and welcoming; all ideas and contributions are valued. We are looking for someone with the willingness and aptitude to make a difference rather than any pre-existing experience.

We are also looking for a new Board Member to join our Board of Governance.
Our Board, to whom we are accountable, sets the strategic direction of the organisation. It currently comprises a team of eight people who between them have a broad range of skills and experience. We are now keen to recruit an additional Board member, ideally with Digital/IT skills and experience who will be able to help advise us in using technology and digital innovation to improve the customer experience.  You do not need to have previous experience of being a Board member, as the successful applicant will be supported by the Housing Diversity Network's "Achieving Board Excellence Programme". As with the customer role, we are again looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to bringing about positive change to our services for all customers
  • Can remain impartial and objective at all times
  • Is able to share and explain their views and ideas in group discussions
  • Is willing to question and challenge
  • Has the time and commitment to carry out the role
  • This is a paid role (£1,200 per annum)
N.B. To apply for this role you do not need to be an LYHA customer.

To find out more, or register your interest in either of these roles, please email: recruitment@lyha.co.uk by the end of July 2020.

Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association is committed to equality and diversity and is an inclusive employer. We welcome applications from everyone.
