This week is National Apprenticeship Week and we caught up with our IT Apprentice, Matthew, who joined us last June to hear why he chose to do an apprenticeship and his experience so far:
“I’m really enjoying my role at LYHA. In fact I couldn’t have asked for a better start. I’m working with a really friendly team of people who’ve made me feel very welcome and I’m learning a lot, especially from my manager, who is practically demonstrating things and answering my questions.
I wanted to do an apprenticeship to gain practical, on the job experience in a real work environment. In IT it’s so important to have the chance to’ have a go yourself’ rather than just learning theory. And already I’m getting real satisfaction from being able to help team members resolve their IT problems.
I started my apprenticeship in June, so I’m looking forward to being back in the office and meeting everyone face to face. In the future I would like to learn more about IT security and continue to continue to grow my practical experience.”
