St. John's House, Leeds

St. John's House is a new development on Hanover Mount, Woodhouse, close to Leeds City Centre. It features 23 one and two bed apartments for affordable rent in a sought-after area of the city.

The £2.68m development has been made possible through working in partnership with Leeds City Council, who sold the land to us for £23,000 and agreed planning consent to develop the plots into apartments for general needs applicants. A grant of £681,000 was secured from the Homes and Communities Agency towards funding the development of the much-needed affordable homes. Now complete, the apartments have also been let in partnership with the council.

Demolition of the old building, which was known as Kendall Carr, began in January 2016. The new scheme was designed by Leeds based architect Brewster Bye, to complement the red-brick Victorian and Georgian terraced houses on nearby Hanover square.

United Living secured the building contract and began building the new apartments in Spring 2016. The result is 23 beautiful apartments which will provide a secure and affordable foundation to enable individuals and families to thrive.

This development is part of our ambitious growth strategy to create sustainable communities and make a positive local impact. In 2016/17 we delivered 121 new homes amounting to 9% growth, and in 2017/18 we plan to deliver a further 107 homes (a further 7% growth). St. John's House is a great example of how we’ve delivered local solutions through effective partnership working, breathed life into a community, and created life changing moments.
