Ways to pay your rent

The easiest and most secure way to pay your rent is direct debit. You can set up a direct debit to make payments weekly, fortnightly, every four weeks, or monthly. The majority of our customers pay by direct debit. If you'd like to set up a direct debit to pay your rent, click here to complete a direct debit mandate form.

Other ways to pay your rent

  • Online through your myLYHA account using a debit card. Click here to login or to set up your account if you don't already have one (you will need your tenancy reference number and an email address)

  • Internet banking - if you use online banking you can set up Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association as a payee. Make sure you use your tenancy reference number (found on your rent statement) as the 'reference' when you pay this way, so we know who the payment is from. You can make rent payments at your convenience 24 hours a day. Click here to request our bank details so you can set us up payees if you would like to pay in this way

  • Automatic repeat debit card payments - You can contact your Income Officer to arrange a fixed number of payments (e.g. to repay an outstanding balance) or make an ongoing arrangement to pay your rent. A number of payments can be arranged in one go and can be set up to go out on the same day as your pay date or the day you receive you Universal Credit payment.

  • Post office payment card - also known as a GIRO card. Simply take the card with you to your local post office and pay with cash or a debit card and receive a receipt for your payment. It can take up to seven days for the rent to be credited to your account. Click here if you would like to request a GIRO card to be sent to you.
