What is my chance of being rehoused by Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association?

LYHA is a relatively small housing association, and we only have around 1,600 properties – 40% of which are either a bedsit or a 1-bedroom accommodation.

The largest properties we own are 4 bed houses and we only have 97 of these.

Over the past 5 years we have increased our stock by 200 properties, and we are planning to increase by another 150 over the next 3 years. We also re-let around 150 properties each year. We will advertise around 90 to 100 of these on our website. We would love to be able to help everyone in housing need, but you will see that are resources are limited.

So, what can you do to increase your chances?
We would advise that you also register with some of the other social housing providers within our area.

Leeds
Leeds City Council and several local housing associations share a common register of applicants, and they all advertise their properties through the Leeds Homes website. By registering with Leeds Homes you will be able to bid on the council owned properties as well as properties owned by many other housing associations.

We would also suggest you contact the Leeds City Council, Housing Options Team based at 2 Great George Street, LS2 8BA.

Barnsley
Our homes in Barnsley are all allocated through Berneslai Homes based on housing need. If you would like to apply for any of our properties in Barnsley, you will need to apply through the Berneslai Homes website. Please note that Berneslai Homes allocate properties based on housing need.

North Yorkshire
If you wish to live in the Whitby or Scarborough area, please contact the North Yorkshire Home Choice Partnership who will register your application in the area you prefer. When one of our properties becomes available you will be nominated to LYHA, if you meet the criteria. You will then be contacted by one of our Neighbourhood Officers.
